We are learning all about the parts of a plant and the conditions needed to grow healthy plants. We are working as scientists and doing lots of fun experiments.
We celebrated Engineers Week in the infant room. Our theme was ‘Towers and Castles’. We spent time looking at lots of different types of towers and castles, from airport control towers to the Eiffel Tower, from the Disneyland castle to Rathfarnham Castle. We talked about the different functions they serve and how they were designed and constructed.
We then spent time building with blocks. We recorded our work with photographs, pencil drawings and 2d shapes.
This week we painted birch trees. We used making tape to mark out the trees and then we used watercolours to paint the winter sky. A sprinkling of salt helped to give the skiy some texture.
We made images of the Startford fox.
Our focus this month in the infant classroom is Bucket Filling. This is a fantastic story written by Carol Cloud and it's Ms Dunne's favourite book. This story teaches children about the value in helping and looking out for others. We were inspired to write about the different ways we can fill each others buckets in school.
