This weeks theme is the Post Office. We talked a lot about the role of the post office and the journey of a letter. We decided to make cards for each other. We decorated the cards and wrote positive messages to each other. On Tuesday we posted them in the post box beside our school. The students were very excited to receive their cards.
This week we looked at the work of Georgia O’Keefe. We looked closely at the different shades of colour in in Georgia’s Red Poppies. We were inspired to create our own paintings.
Inspired by the senior infant story ‘Fun on Friday’ the students made their own creations from cardboard boxes. We had chicks, dog hotels, a sweet shop, rabbits, dogs, a bus and many more imaginative creations. What a creative bunch of infants.
Thanks to all the parents who helped out at home.
On Wednesday the junior and senior infants took a trip to the National Gallery of Ireland. This was our very first outing and I was so proud of our wonderful infants. We traveled in on the bus and took a guided tour of the gallery. Our two guides were fantastic and showed us many different paintings and sculptures. We loved the paint of Strongbow and Aoife.
We are counting down the days to our summer tour!
Inspired by all the rain this April, we created rain clouds. We had great fun splatter painting. We also named our creations. Check them out below.
