Floating and Sinking

Floating and Sinking

In science we have been exploring and experimenting with floating and sinking.

During our first experiment, we used oranges and bananas (items which float) and experimented with changing them in different ways in order to make them sink.

During our second experiment, we used a ball of plasticine (an item which sinks) and experimented with how we could change it to make it float. We made some great boats- some of them could even hold passengers!

We found out that the density of an item, as well as its shape, is what results in it floating or sinking. Like real scientists, we observed and recorded our results carefully.

Have a look!
