General School News
We had a lovely whole school celebration to honour the wonderful 6th class pupils who are graduating from Stratford N.S. The parents and families of the 6th class pupils joined us in the hall and enjoyed music and poetry performed by all the pupils from 1st- 5th class. 6th class read out their memories and messages of thanks and were awarded certificates. It was a great send off for the the children and we wish them the best of luck in secondary school next year!
We are delighted to welcome two new members of staff:
New Special Needs Assistant (SNA): We are delighted to announce that an additional part-time SNA) has been allocated to our school. Mr. Niall Kelly is now working with Ms. Lucy Mitchell to provide additional support for Stratford NS children since Monday, 13th May.
Morning Supervisor – Ms. Naomi Taylor has taken over from Ms. Deirdre O’Byrne as our new morning supervisor on Friday 10th May.
We wish them every success in their new posts in Stratford National School!
Retirement of our Morning Supervisor on 10th May:
Deirdre O’Byrne retired from her position as Morning Supervisor after 23 years of service to Stratford National School on Friday 10 May 2019. The children provided a lovely entertainment programme
5th and 6th Class played chopsticks and ‘We Appreciate You’ on the Tin Whistles.
3rd and 4th Class played ‘Hot Cross Buns’ ‘Pease Pudding’ and ‘Eudoxia’ on the Recorders.
All pupils recited a special poem they composed especially for Deirdre. The celebration finished with a rendition of ‘We appreciate You’ from all the children.
We thank Deirdre for her 23 years of service to Stratford National School. We wish Deirdre every success and happiness in her new adventure.

Wild Flower Boxes
The infants and First and Second Classes sowed wild flower seeds in the new plant boxes.
Thanks to Jack Slattery for the donation of lovely, reconstructed wooden boxes, seeds and a lovely rosebush for our school.
Friday, 17th May: Pupil Pyjama/Non-Uniform Day
Stratford National School Green Schools Committee raised € for a new water fountain during the recent Pupil Pyjama/Non-Uniform Day. Well done to all!
Anti-bullying Talk- Tuesday, 14th May
Thank you to the Parents Association for organising the Anti-bullying Talk on Tues May 14 in Stratford National School Lunch Hall. The presentation was well-attended and offered helpful information on the topic.
New School Entrance Door - Mon April 29th 2019
Thank you to all parents and pupils for your cooperation in using the new school entrance door in the mornings. This change was made to meet the recent mandatory Child Safeguarding Risk Assessment in accordance with the Children First Act 2015.
World Book Day, Thurs March 7th 2019
Thank you to all the children for dressing up in their favourite character from a book or a story on the recent World Book Day, Thurs March 7 2019! The children collected €140 and donated the proceeds to Barnardos. Well done to all!
A big ‘Thank you’ to our Parents Association for funding six I-Pads for our school. These will be a wonderful educational aid for all classes.
We operate a ‘Think before you Print’ when using our new photocopier in line with our Green School’s paper conservation aims.
Parents - We would sincerely like to thank all the members of the Board of Management and the Parents’ Association who have volunteered their time and work so hard to ensure that Stratford NS runs smoothly. We really appreciate this work!
We enjoyed a wonderful Purim celebration. We dressed up in colourful costumes! Rabbi Lent talked to us about Purim followed by a fantastic play by 3rd and 4th class depicting the historic context. Afterwards we enjoyed delicious hamantashen. Well done to all!
We had great fun celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 7th March. To mark the occasion, the children dressed up as their favourite literary character. We also raised €140 for Barnardos. Well done to everyone who took part and donated!
We really enjoyed our annual Harry Potter Quiz. We got to work in teams with children from all different classes. We worked really well together and had lots of fun. Many thanks to Ms O'Kelly from the secondary school and her lovely students for organising and hosting the quiz so well. We are already looking forward to next year!
